With Apollo, MIDI can be sent over Bluetooth LE wireless connections, eliminating hardware adapters, and providing much lower latency than is possible with WiFi. Install the app on two iOS devices, select an «A» endpoint for one, and a «B» endpoint for the other. Press the search button on both, and a Bluetooth connection will be established. After connecting, MIDI messages sent to Apollo running on one device will be forwarded to the other — and these messages can then be redirected to synthesizer or sequencer apps.
In addition to MIDI connections between iOS devices, Apollo can also be used to connect to Mac desktop and laptop computers. Recent iMacs and MacBooks support Bluetooth LE; for older Macs, a USB Bluetooth adapter may be required. The OSX version of Apollo is free, and is available in the Mac app store.

There are a ton of lessons, but I’ll me damned if I understand the order it’s in, or why he chose it.
I have had Live for a couple months, and I know it well enough to have used it onstage for the last couple shows, as well as to have written a couple songs on it. Still, I feel I have only the very beginning of understanding of this program, so I bought these lessons.
…but the order in which he talks about stuff is baffling.
Lesson one is this guy babbles about what he regrets about his music career, followed by why he thinks this software is good. That’s a lesson? Why the hell do I care about him getting stuck in the studio and missing performing? I don’t. Still, maybe this is just his version of an intro.
Lesson two, this guy starts babbling about how to jump around in a DJ set using hot keys. Honestly, that’s the FIRST thing we are taught? hot key shortcuts in a DJ set? Shouldn’t «loading a file» or «building a set» come before little tricky ways to navigate an already built song? How about a global understanding of the interface?
After lesson three, I still haven’t been given a overview…so I think I’m gunna give up. The manual works better then this. And did I mention he does annoying/insulting impressions? He uses a ‘dumb hick’ voice to represent you, the viewer. Nice, aren’t you glad you just gave him ten bucks? I’m not.
Should YOU buy it? If you don’t mind listening to 6 1/2 hours of random information, while ignoring insults, and then try to collate it in your brain later… then sure, snag it. Honestly, there’s probably a ton of good data in here, but I don’t have the patience for this haphazard mess.

This app has a mix of pages in styles that clash visibly. It offers no practical help on how to set up. It is possible, I found, to stumble onto a page that looks like it is sending midi notes — but offers no clue as to where they are being sent. There was no visible button or control to get off the page — but I managed to — by a process of randomly stabbing the screen. Somewhere in there I found a link to a manual page which was going to help me get set up. But when I got there the page was blank. Eventually I did find a setup screen so I tried to pair it with my MacBook — sadly the developers don’t seem to have heard of Bonjour (Apple’s service for seamlessly hooking up devices) instead they wanted me to enter my computer’s IP address manually. Okay I thought I’ll give that a go — amazingly when the keyboard popped up to enter the address on my iPhone 6 Plus — the field I was editing disappeared beneath the keyboard. Another app deleted in under a minute.

It works quite well. I haven’t had any trouble getting it to work. The biggest complaint I have is it is missing certain keys from being configured to buttons, mostly symbols like .,’:; etc.
If you could save assignments in profiles and quickly load them, the app would be far more useful. Each time I want to play a different game with it I have to reconfigure.
Also being able to support sending the buttons as an xinput device rather than a keystroke would be a killer feature.
If those things were added, it’d easily be a 5 star app.
